1. Don’t be like me - Buy leggings that fit
A few years ago, you may have caught me with my leggings bunched at the bottom of my leg, looking like a pant/leg warmer. Yep, that was me guilty as charged. I was so determined to get into a certain brand’s leggings that I was willing to basically trip over their bootcut leggings just so I could wear them. They were more like a shoe cover…lol.

Now there are so many different flavors of leggings, even for us petite girls. You don’t have to commit this fashion crime! Most leggings will come with a size guide to assist you and it’s easy to find them in varying lengths and sizes to give you a perfect fit. Here’s a guide to measure and see if your body size aligns with the leggings that you’re eyeing:
- Waist: Measure around the waist, just above the hip bone about 2cm above the navel.
- Low Waist: Measure the hip bone area, 2 cm below the navel.
- Hips: Measure 20 cm below the natural waist, the most prominent area of the hip
- Length: Measure your inseam from the uppermost part of your thigh to your ankle

Everyone is looking for or already has that go to pair- or two or three or more pairs of black leggings. Trust me some are better than others! I’m sure some are more comfortable or stylish than the others. So, when looking for black leggings what should you look for? The number one thing is fade resistant. Clothing labeled as fade resistant are treated longer than normal or standard fabric. However, you’ll typically be ok with fabrics blended with acrylic, polyester, or nylon because they are less likely to fade. There are plenty of leggings made with at least 10% of polyester. When you wash your black leggings, turn them inside out to protect the outside. Also, don’t be afraid to choose leggings that punch up the typical black legging with a bit of color – it’s ok to stand out from the all black leggings’ crowd.

Not short enough to be shorts, not long enough to be full length pants. They are a go-to on warm mild summer days, and for spring or fall. I even wear them occasionally tucked into a boot and no one knows the difference. They cut mid-calf and anything longer may be considered a 7/8th legging. 5. Rear seam – dreaded or welcome?

For those who want to accentuate their posterior region, there are leggings that come with an enhanced rear seam. Typically, leggings come with a flat rear seam but I have run across an enhanced rear seam. This caught me completely off-guard! I determined that those weren’t the leggings for me because let me just say that my derriere doesn’t need any enhancement. Just because they aren’t for me, doesn’t mean they aren’t for someone else. With these leggings, there are typically other attributes I like so I just wear a sweater to cover my backside. These leggings are out there, so if you stumble upon them – I didn’t want you to be caught off guard like I was the first time.
6. Fleece-lined Leggings
